| September 19, 2006: Panic! at the Library Hello, bonjour! It's late summer, so everything is warm, ripe, if not actually falling off the tree...an apple tree in my neighborhood has a branch bending down, heavy with fruit - not the kind of apples you see in a store, but I imagine the kind you can press for cider or feed to horses... I looked after Cal today - he was restless but eventually I got him to take a nap...he has a cold and is kind of messy, but very good-natured as ever. This was a blessing, as I left here this morning in an agony - my dear Marcello was in physical pain overnight due to my absence, and I hate that and I sent him an e-card and longed all day to know his response. Since I can't access my email at work right now unless I go on a computer that is usually (and quite rightly!) being used for work purposes, I was beside myself after Cal & I left the drop-in, where I was telling the woman in charge all about the engagement and she said "God Bless" and I truly felt blessed, and hid my anxiety over Marcello fairly well, I think. Well, my idea was to go to the public library - St. Lawrence - and while I knew the computers would be all taken up, I did not expect to find a guy I can only call the SuperSlacker at, of all of them, the express-hurry-it-up one. I have never seen anyone less interested in using a computer using one, I mean I've seen infants with better typing skills than him, but I was willing to wait for him to finish...then Inconvenient Woman came in and said that she had to go outside to make a cell phone call and she was first in line, not me, and I immediately wanted to scream, "My fiance is in pain and I want on the internet RIGHT NOW DAMMIT" but instead hightailed it out of there, saying to the woman no thanks, there's no way Cal could sit for half an hour (and no way I could stay there for a second more). I calmed down as we went home, praying that he was okay, and got here and yes, his email is all I wanted to read and more, and in fact the dead atmosphere of the library would have been the wrong place to read it...extremes of emotions of any kind aren't really welcome there... ...and so, on to other things... I have the new Sloan album, Never Hear The End of It which I got at HMV as they had the lowest price. (Yeah, I know!) Amused to see The Pipettes cd for lots more than it's worth ($22). Final Fantasy won the Polaris prize and the better stores have all the nominees on sale, especially the underdogs...Gemma has the new Kid Koala album (he says it's the sequel to the underground mixtape [if anyone knows how to get a copy PLEASE tell me] scratchscratchscratchscratch) Your Mom's Favorite DJ and of course it's good and silly and quintessentially Kid Koala... ...back at UC tomorrow to wrestle with more paperbacks, probably will be there on Thursday too, for that matter...with any luck I won't have the tugging, aching worry of today then and my mailing to him will have finally arrived and all will be well...
