October 12, 2006: Life on Paper

Hello, bonjour!

It's the night before the beginning of the UC Book Sale - my books are done, the extra boxes sealed, the duplicates are underneath and will be put in nice display boxes tomorrow morning. I've gotten a lot of books so far & will wait until it's all over to list them here. Naturally my upcoming residence in London is dictating a lot, from a map of historical London to ye olde English authors to...um, a book on the origins of English town names. A new world beckons, and the old one is virtually melting away. I am only taking one Canadian novel, and it's a replacement of one I already have...

...I still have to go to the British consulate (I'll finally have time next week) and start the actual process...every time I tell someone I'm going they are happy for me, and I am amazed once more and maybe a little intimidated - I can feel their own shock and surprise and despite my best efforts, I feel it and pick it up, a little....but most of the time I am in a daze, though the real work will start soon enough, on all fronts...the news from London is beyond amazing, so I have a goal, I'm going to reach it...

Thanksgiving was good, on Saturday; met my wedding dress designer and she actually likes my ideas, so that was good; the meal was fine too, but as always, no matter where I am or how happy I am I always wish he was with me. (I mean, he is, but I still miss him...) I got the photos back finally and while I am not a great photographer (I have promise, I think) they make me miss him all the more...and more determined to see him, whenever I can...
