March 20, 2007: Last Day of Winter

As I write it is sunny, cold, my hair is drying and I am planning to go to the library, the clinic (my left big toe is bugging me - nothing too serious, but still) and then back home. My increasingly necessary trip to London, which psychologically I have been wanting and needing for months, is confirmed - I fly out of Pearson on the night of the 1st, and come back on the 11th.

I am still tired from recuperating - if I was in an ideal environment I wouldn't be, but there you are - I sleep when I can and have to work around that, for now. I may even sleep en route, but the excitement of knowing I'm less than X hours away from seeing Marcello again will probably limit that to a light snooze, at best. In any case, I am going to the Women's Unit on Friday, and then coming back here to rest un peu, then off to look after Cal while his folks go see "Hot Gates!" aka 300. Otherwise I am resting, though getting enough done each day to satisfy my need for progress...

Because I've been so out of it (did I mention my sinus headaches?) I haven't had much time to think or write anything new on Scritti Politti. The 33 1/3 thing doesn't bother me much now, and the new batch, when announced (in a day or two) will reveal a lot about what it is they want, and who it is that is judged able to write. (There was one anonymous comment that said to us aspiring writers that we were no competition for bigger-named authors.)

Ah well. I feel I will have enough to do this year, alongside thinking and reworking my pitch; the 33 1/3 series could conceivably go on for 100 books, but whether it will diversify a little more has yet to be seen. Eh bien.

To look forward to: Gatwick Arrivals, clear lemonade, Notting Hill, Hampton Court, Canterbury, Poptimism, meeting MC's friends (who are all eager to meet me!), and most of all Marcello and our lovely flat. Those are worth much hard work and patience. Thank God spring is almost here, as I need rest, warmth and sunshine...
